Terra Ephemera Chair
Initial Sketch inspired by the phases of the Moon.
Solar Eclipse as observed from Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland, CA on 4.8.24.
Quick concept model.
Because of the complex nature of my desired shape, I jumped into Rhino to continue exploring realistic dimensions and geometry.
I explored human-scale modeling via renders in Keyshot, then Photoshopping in ghost users.
I also began experimenting with finishing hues.

Once I settled on a final model iteration, I rendered it and created a presentation board displaying my inspirations and in-context renders.
From there, I imported my Rhino parts into Fusion 360 for CAM processing, prior to CNC milling them from 3/4" Baltic Birch plywood.
Once all my parts had been milled, I began assembly processes.
Planning and coordinating manufacturing steps made me acutely aware of the challenges of furniture-grade piece production.
Nearly complete prototype.
